Abstract

This study investigates the impact of triazine ligand functionalization on the photophysical properties of cesium lead bromide (CsPbBr₃) nanocrystals with the aim of enhancing their emission efficiency and stability. Pristine CsPbBr₃ nanocrystals often suffer from surface trap states that promote non-radiative recombination and reduce photoluminescence performance. By introducing triazine ligands onto the nanocrystal surface, the passivation of these trap states was achieved, resulting in improved exciton stabilization, enhanced radiative recombination, and suppression of non-radiative decay. Steady-state and time-resolved photoluminescence measurements revealed a significant increase in emission intensity and prolonged carrier lifetime, accompanied by a reduction in trap-assisted processes. The functionalized nanocrystals exhibited higher quantum efficiency and greater optical stability compared to their pristine counterparts, indicating successful surface modification. These results highlight the potential of triazine functionalization as a rational approach to optimize the optical behavior of halide perovskite nanocrystals, thereby broadening their applicability in optoelectronic devices such as light-emitting diodes, photocatalysts, and solar energy harvesting systems.
