Abstract

The rapid advancement of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) has revolutionized the production of text, images, and code, enabling new forms of creativity, automation, and problem-solving. However, this expansion also brings forth critical ethical, epistemological, and governance challenges that remain inadequately addressed. This study employs a qualitative research design using thematic analysis to explore user perceptions, ethical concerns, and social impacts of GAI across diverse domains. Semi-structured interviews with developers, educators, and content creators revealed five central themes: creative empowerment and efficiency; ambiguity around authorship and ownership; overreliance and trust in AI-generated outputs; the persistence of bias and lack of contextual awareness; and the critical need for human oversight and ethical literacy. The findings underscore the dual role of GAI as both an enabler of innovation and a source of normative uncertainty. The study highlights the necessity for transparent attribution systems, culturally inclusive model training, and value-sensitive design. It concludes by outlining future research directions, including longitudinal user studies, participatory design methodologies, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure socially responsible and ethically grounded development of GAI systems.
