Abstract

This literature review examines the role of moral and spiritual intelligence in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Drawing upon theoretical and empirical research, the review highlights how these non-cognitive intelligences cultivate ethical awareness, responsible leadership, and sustainability-oriented mindsets. Moral intelligence rooted in values such as integrity, responsibility, and compassion promote ethical decision-making aligned with SDG 4 (quality education) and SDG 16 (peace and justice). Spiritual intelligence, characterized by purpose, connectedness, and resilience, supports emotional well-being and environmental responsibility, resonating with SDG 3 (health) and SDG 13 (climate action). The findings underscore the potential of value-based education and leadership in shaping global citizenship and sustainable behaviors. However, gaps remain in empirical evidence and culturally inclusive frameworks. The review calls for future research to develop assessment models and integrate these intelligences into education and policy to effectively contribute to the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
