Background: The global pressure to get rid of fossil fuel due to uncontrolled emissions of CO2 worldwide due to climate change as well as environmental degradation has influenced the movement to use renewable energy. The renewable technologies as newer engineering innovations have firmly been placed along the path to the environmental sustainability and the carbon emission mitigation.
Objective: The overall objective of the study is to explore how the improvement of renewable energy engineering can help to reduce CO 2 emission and sustainability of the environment in different countries and technologies.
Method: Mixed-method research design was chosen; it involves both quantitative evaluation of secondary data in international databases (IEA, IRENA, World Bank) and qualitative Information of expert interviews (25). Thematic analysis was performed to extract and locate the engineering challenges or opportunities that can be identified as the same or similar, and statistical models were used to determine the correlation of renewable energy capacity and CO 2 emissions in 2015-2024.
Findings: The findings provided a discovery that the nations that invested in a complex engineering and renewable research and development-the U.S, China and Germany - showed sufficient renewable energy development and enhanced emission cuts. The inventions of solar PV, wind Turbine systems, battery storage system, and smart grids were very ideal in enhancing energy efficiency and performance in an environmental aspect. Some of the major obstacles were integration into the grid, limitations to storage and unreliable policy particularly in developing countries.
Conclusion: The issue of renewable energy engineering is central to the process of decarbonization and the environment sustainability of the global world. To speed the shift to green energy in the world, stable policies, education, and funding should support engineering the solutions that increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability of renewable systems.
