Textbooks play a very important role for both teachers and students. Many teachers use textbooks as a guide to deliver content in the classroom. For students, the book serves as a framework for organizing learning inside and outside the classroom. However, as the teaching of science and mathematics was approached from a teacher- student perspective, the role of the book changed. A textbook is considered good if it is more than student-centered, promotes independent learning, allows students to learn at their own pace, and engages students. in a work that promotes great themes. One way to get all the information is through textbook evaluation A major factor of the deteriorating standard of education is the pathetic condition of teaching profession in our country. As such, education in our country has not been able to achieve the desired goals. Due to the limitation of this work, the current study is limited to the “An evaluation of text book of chemistry of higher secondary level grade 1 prescribed by textbook board KPK Peshawar”. It is a survey type study in nature, study setting was Islamia College Peshawar (boys and girls section). To collect the data a questionnaire was prepared and, having been approved by the internal supervisor, it was issued to the teachers and students in the sample colleges. The important literature related to the study was reviewed and only the significant extracts were quoted. The data collected through the questionnaire was tabulated and analyzed. After drawing the findings, the following items seemed the need to be improved i.e. Variety of assessment tools provided, effectiveness of visual aids and illustrations, clarity and appeal of visual aids, variety of visual aids used (e.g., charts, graphs, photos), use of definitions and glossaries for complex terms. The content quality, alignment with the curriculum, and accuracy of information are strong points, while inclusivity, innovative pedagogical approaches, and enhanced visual and practical components present opportunities for enhancement. Continuous updates and revisions, informed by systematic evaluations, are essential to maintain the textbook's relevance and effectiveness in providing a robust chemistry education.
