The aim of this study was to assess the quality of life and its related factors in men with andropause who visited Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Teaching Regional Hospital in 2025. This descriptive-analytical study was conducted on a sample of 120 participants. Data were collected using the standard WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire and a demographic information form. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software and included descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and independent t-test.
The overall mean quality of life score of the participants was 58.7 ± 12.4. The lowest mean score was observed in the psychological domain (55.2 ± 13.1), while the highest was in the social domain (61.4 ± 11.6). The results showed that physical activity and a healthy lifestyle had a positive and significant relationship with all domains of quality of life and overall quality of life, whereas the presence of chronic diseases had a significant negative relationship with quality of life. In addition, the independent t-test indicated that economic status and educational level had a significant effect on quality of life.
These findings emphasize that the quality of life of men with andropause is influenced by a combination of physical, psychological, social, and lifestyle factors. Therefore, comprehensive interventions, including increasing physical activity, promoting a healthy lifestyle, managing chronic diseases, and providing psychosocial support, are essential to improve the quality of life of this group. The results of this study can provide practical guidance for physicians, psychologists, and health policymakers in Afghanistan.
