Abstract

Sports play a vital role in the physical, mental, and social development of individuals. In developing regions such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, district sports offices are responsible for promoting sports activities, organizing competitions, and supporting athletes at the grassroots level. However, many district sports offices face several challenges that limit their effectiveness. The purpose of this study is to explore the major problems faced by the District Sports Office in Dir Upper, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. A descriptive research design was used to investigate administrative, financial, infrastructural, and organizational challenges affecting sports development in the district. Data were collected from sports officials, coaches, and athletes using questionnaires and interviews. The findings reveal that the district sports office faces multiple issues including insufficient funding, lack of sports facilities, shortage of trained staff, weak management systems, and lack of government support. The study concludes that addressing these challenges is essential for improving sports development in the region. Recommendations include increased government funding, development of modern sports infrastructure, appointment of qualified staff, and implementation of proper management and monitoring systems.
