Abstract

Technology has long been a part of our life. Students of modern age, which are commonly referred to as “digital natives” are accustomed at using technology and digital tools in their life. Learning is integrated with the use of technology in the form of multiple digital tools. The objectives of this study were to find out the obstacles in the adaptation of digital tools and to identify the use of digital tools to enhance students learning. This study was quantitative in nature and for data collection Cross-sectional survey design was employed. The research population for this study involved all undergraduate students of female govt. graduate colleges of Gujranwala District. Sample of the study was 332 BS students, calculated using Cochren’s sample size selection formula. Purposive sampling technique was used to collect data from senior (5th to 8th semesters) semesters as they are more accustomed at using digital tools in learning. For collecting data, a questionnaire was developed and validated. Then Statistical Packages of Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the collected data. Descriptive statistics applied to the data include frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test. Results of the study indicates that majority of the students believe that technical problems, poor internet connection, privacy concerns of students and difficulty in finding appropriate tool for learning were the major obstacles in the adaptation of digital tools. And a good majority of participants agreed that the integration of digital tools improved their learning with positive effect on their exams performance. Online assessments, quizzes, online tutorials and instructional videos have helped identify their areas for improvement and access of online libraries and databases has enriched their learning.. So the study concluded that integration of digital tools enhances students learning.
