Abstract

In the Urdu novel, the problems of unmatched marriage and divorce are presented in a very sensitive and realistic manner. These themes reflect our social structures, traditions and gender inequality. Urdu novelists have described unmarried marriage as an important social problem. In such marriages, there is an imbalance of age, education, temperament or social status, which results in mental harmony between the spouses. Most of the novels have shown that these marriages under family or social pressure have a greater impact on the woman's life, where she has to face compromise, deprivation and sometimes mental anguish. The problem of divorce also comes up as an important topic in Urdu novels. Although women have the right to divorce in Islamic teachings, it has not been shown to be easy to achieve this at the social level. The novels show women facing legal, social and familial barriers to divorce. Fear of stigma, economic instability and family pressure prevent women from exercising this right. Through these problems, the authors have not only highlighted the social injustices but also emphasized the need for reforming the society. Efforts have been made to raise awareness about the disadvantages of extramarital marriage and the right to divorce, so that a balanced and just society can be formed. In short, the issues of unmarried marriage and Annulment in the Urdu novel are not merely personal stories but represent broader social realities. These themes make the reader think and provide guidance towards social change.
