Brucella is a genus of Gram-negative bacteria responsible for brucellosis, a zoonotic infection that effects various mammals, including humans. It has a significant impact on livestock, wildlife and human health. The current study aimed to find out the prevalence of Brucella and active brucellosis in undergraduate female students of Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology. A total of 56-blood sample were collected using sterile syringe from the students. Brucellosis was detected by SPAT (Serum Plate Agglutination Test). Only 1 out of 56 samples was detected as positive by SPAT. It was concluded that Brucella infection represent a significant public health challenge due to their zoonotic potential and ability to cause chronic disease.
