Abstract

For female adolescents and young adults, is a serious health problem since it impacts both overall welfare and haematological profiles. The prevalence and features of were assessed in 100 female patients between the ages of 15 and 22. Haematological studies revealed that 51% of patients had in accordance with WHO criteria and red blood cell indices. Normal complete blood counts (35.3%), microcytic (35.3%), iron deficiency (19.6%), normocytic (15.7%), and severe microcytic (9.8%) were among the subtypes of these patients. Haemoglobin levels ranged from 7.5 to 14.3 g/dL, with the most severe patients having levels below 8 g/dL. decreased mean corpuscular volume (MCV), hypochromia as shown by lower mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC) and mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH), Microcytic and iron deficiency were characterized by increased red cell distribution width (RDW), a sign of anisocytosis. Normocytic was found to have normal MCV and reduced haemoglobin, suggesting a number of aetiologies, including chronic sickness and haemorrhagic episodes. White blood cell and platelet counts remained within normal ranges, making it less likely that inflammatory or infectious diseases would be mistaken. The high incidence of iron deficiency emphasizes how urgently this population needs targeted clinical and nutritional treatments. These findings demonstrate the diversity of subgroups and the need of a comprehensive haematological profile in guiding effective diagnosis and treatment.
