Abstract

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) is choice of the day for many attractive features like high data rate communication and better spectral efficiency in multi path fading. However, OFDMA signal is greatly influenced by High Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). Among numerous techniques, the Pre- coding based OFDMA techniques got more attention in terms of Bandwidth utilization, BER performance, PAPR reduction and Complexity. In this paper, a Lifting based Discrete Wavelet Transform (LWT) pre-coded localized-OFDMA (LOFDMA) technique is proposed for PAPR reduction in LTE-A/5G. The planned technique is equated with the conventional FFT based LOFDMA, conventional DWT based LOFDMA and the FFT pre-coded LOFDMA (SC-FDMA) techniques in terms of PAPR, BER, complexity, bandwidth usage and multi carrier communication using 8-QAM, 16-QAM and 64-QAM modulation schemes over Rayleigh fading channel. Through extensive simulations, it is shown that the proposed technique gives 58.82% improvement in PAPR reduction than conventional FFT-LOFDMA technique. Also, the suggested techniques has 73% better performance regarding BER as compared to the FFT pre-coded LOFDMA. The proposed technique is bandwidth efficient, moreover, its complexity compromise is very negligible as compared to conventional FFT-LOFDMA and conventional DWT-LOFDMA.
